What is the resource?
This resource has been designed for year 2 students with the intention of increasing their knowledge of current societal issues, whilst incorporating digital technologies to conduct research and develop their ideas digitally. The aim of the learning experience will be to have students research various farms, such as fruit, vegetable, animal and grain, and the current issues that farmers are facing when growing their farms.
Australian Curriculum: Technologies
Content Strands
The below content strands will be covered, and an assessment provided as a component of the learning resource.
Knowledge and Understanding –
Identify how people design and produce familiar products, services and environments and consider sustainability to meet personal and local community needs (ACTDEK001)
Processes and Production Skills –
Sequence steps for making designed solutions and working collaboratively (ACTDEP009)
Cross curriculum priorities: Sustainability
The Australian Curriculum: Technologies enables consideration of 'creating preferred futures'. Through the priority of Sustainability, students develop the knowledge, skills, values and world views necessary to contribute to more sustainable patterns of living (ACARA, 2015).
General Capabilities
Personal and Social Capability - Students will be required to establishing and build positive relationships when working as a member of their group, making responsible decisions, working effectively in teams, handling challenging situations constructively and developing leadership skills (ACARA, 2015).
Critical and Creative Thinking - students will be required to develop their farm designs using imagination and innovation.

Design Brief & Learning Resource materials
I have developed the student workbook as both a PDF and in Microsoft Word format. When I attempted to upload the Microsoft Word document to the webpage, a lot of the formatting was lost, causing overlaps.
Please note: The teachers information pages are located in the PDF student workbook.
If you are happy to use the resource as is, please select the 'Farmers Wants A Life' Student Workbook link below. You are able to print this document for your students, however you are unable to edit it.
Farmer Wants A Life Student Workbook
If you would like to edit the student workbook to cater for your diverse student needs, please use the Microsoft Word documents below (they are in three parts as the file size was to large to upload and again, formatting was lost when uploading onto any webpage - you can simply open all the documents and edit/print number required).
