What is the resource?
This resource has been designed for year 4 students with the intention of increasing their ability to solve scientific problems through investigation, whilst also utilising various digital technologies to create visually appeasing presentations. Students will be required to manipulate and create a digital story board that demonstrates and provides a 'how to' guide to complete the investigation/experiment that they were given.
Australian Curriculum: Technologies
Content Strands
The below content strands will be covered, and an assessment provided as a component of the learning resource.
Knowledge and Understanding –
Identify and explore a range of digital systems with peripheral devices for different purposes, and transmit different types of data (ACTDIK007)
Processes and Production Skills –
Collect, access and present different types of data using simple software to create information and solve problems (ACTDIP009)
Integrated Curriculum:
The learning resource integrates two different Key Learning Areas (KLA) of the Australian Curriculum, focusing on the content strands of the Technologies KLA, however utilising the Science KLA content descriptions of the classrooms requirements. This resource allows for flexibility for the teacher, as students are able to complete their science experiment/investigation that they are working through in their classroom.
General Capabilities
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) - Students develop ICT capabilities as they use their digital technologies effectively and appropriately to access, create and communicate information and ideas, solve problems both within and outside of the classroom environment. Students will be required to adapt to new ways of doing things with the increasing implementation of digital technologies within the classrooms.
Personal and Social Capability - Students are required to use self-awareness and self-management skills to wok through the learning resource individually and at their own pace. Students are responsible for completing the learning experience with minimal supervision.
Critical and Creative Thinking - students will be required to create/design their digital storyboard designs using imagination and innovation. Students will also be required to reflect on their own work critically to allow for improvements.
